If You're Looking For a Fun Read....

Circle Of Five (Circle, Book 1)

Just finished a fun book called Circle of Five.  It's a cozy mystery with a Wiccan flair.  It's a series and I plan on going to the library web site after I post this and reserving the next one!  I tried doing it with this book, but they didn't have any copies and I had to buy it.  Oh bother *wink*.  Lots of fun and a quick read.  It's not often you find fiction that involves Paganism with out the misguided notion that we're all evil!  The witches in this series are the good guys and lead rather ordinary lives...except, of course, for the whole involvement-in-murdur-investigations thing :).

    Bright Blessings

    Feeling Inspired

I'm feeling inspired today.  It's a nice feeling.  Yesterday, I bought a dark blue candle and 12 white votives to represent Frigga and her Handmaidens (respectively).  Don't yet have the charms to represent each Handmaiden or anointing oil for each candle, but that will come in time and as I get to know each one better, will probably change the color of her candle as well.  I wanted to get going with my fireplace altar sooner rather than later.  It's in the South of the room which, ordinarily, would be perfect, but I like my altars in the North.  I think Frigga will grant me her blessing because she is a Hearth and Home Goddess and the South is where my fireplace is.  I need to re-clean the livingroom.  Jenna has been in there searching for the video she wanted so now, they're all over the floor :).  She goes down for her nap in about 15 minutes so I'll have a chance to set up and bless the space.  What a nice feeling.

    Feeling Stuck This Morning

Monday, July 14, 2008, 08:40 AM MST [General]

Woke up too early and am driking Yuban 'cause I ran out of my 'snob' coffee yesterday.  It was a lovely weekend.  Alan had the whole weekend off, a rarity these days so we went out for a lunch date.  My mom is in town til tomorrow, so we took advantage of her.  The fan on the air conditioner went out on Friday night.  Called them Sat. morning and they came in the early pm.  We learned about this company from a neighbor who used them.  We just bought this friggin' thing last year!  Well, they came out, fixed the problem and didn't charge us for a service call even though we were a few months past the one year labor warranty.  Love these guys.  *shameless plug alert*  If you need a new unit and live in Phoenix, use Rainbow Air.  They are a Christian company (have the fish on the side of their vans) but are one of the very few who don't pass judgement, they just run an ethical business.  What a concept.  We had a storm yesterday in the late afternoon.  We just had a short cloud burst but there were areas south of us that really got hammered.  It even closed down one of the freeways for several hours.  More rain is in the forcast for the rest of the week, so I'm hoping for more of the same.

As for this morning, I have lots of things that need my attention and they're pulling me in different directions at the same time.  As a result, I can't begin anything.  I want to do the fun stuff first, but the old bug in my brain, is hollering, "Business before pleasure" at me.  Sigh.  It's still a little early, I think I'll have one more cup of coffee before I decide.  The one really fun thing I want to do today is transform my fireplace into my livingroom altar.  Frigga is my matron goddess so I think it's a fine fit.  Just finished a book about Frigga and her hand-maidens.  While I was reading it, I got the idea of getting a charm bracelet with charms for each goddess--13 in all.  13 is my lucky number.  My challenge is that it'll take a while to find a bracelet I like as well as 13 charms that acurately depict each Goddess.  Well, it'll be a fun treasure hunt, at least.

    Bright Blessings, all

    It's Raining, It's Pouring...

...and Alan is indeed snoring!  Poor baby, he's been working so hard lately.  I'm soooooo happy!  It's pouring down rain!  I was reading and heard large drops falling so I raised the sun shades on the back patio to let the fresh air and rain.  My girls were so excited about the rain that they ran out into it for a moment.  Then my girls and I did a rendition of Ring Around the Rosy...in the pouring rain.  It's wonderful.  Rain, lightning, thunder, happiness.  I'm still soaking wet from our venture.

I took the girls to get their hair cut this morning.  They looked so cute.  We went to one of those little girl "salons" where they got little clips for their hair and sparkle hair spray.  Well, Jenna doesn't look so cute right now.  She just poured a glass of chocolate milk on her head and blamed her sister.  I know that Lexi isn't responsible.  Jenna has poured various liquids over herself in the last several months.  It's usually water but Kool Aid, lemonade and now, chocolate milk have been added to the list.  All I can say is, thank the gods for tile floors!
